PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal converter, that adopts DTMF system which is compatible with many devices connected to public lines to conduct data communication. SOLUTION: A signal conversion control section 12, receiving a hexadecimal digital signal through a digital input output section 10, generates a command and allows a tone signal generating section 16 to transmit a tone signal adopting the corresponding DTMF system. A tone signal identification section 18, receiving a tone signal through the public line 20, identifies the tone signal, and the signal conversion control section 12 generates a hexadecimal digital signal on the basis of the result of identification. Matching between the digital signal and the tone signal is determined by a signal table stored in a signal table storage section 14.
