PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method which is capable of minimizing the crosstalks between tracks in signal reproducing and the clock erasure in signal recording and realizing the higher density of the tracks by most adequately controlling the widths of recording marks even when the differences in recording sensitivity exist among the adjacent tracks. SOLUTION: Fourth test patterns consisting of the plural recording marks 4 having different widths are recorded in a fourth region 14 of a first track Tr (n-1) of an optical recording medium and the third test patterns 3 consisting of the plural recording marks 3 having the different widths are recorded in a third region 13 not adjacent to the fourth region on a second track Tr (n) adjacent to the first track Tr (n-1). The optimum recording conditions of the respective tracks are determined from the signals obtained by reproducing the first track Tr (n-1) and the second track Tr (n).
