PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary head device capable of surely eliminating an inter-bearing gap and adding a preload without any hardening of adhesive or effects of the preload, and extremely high in yield and reliability. SOLUTION: A rotary drum 2 and a pair of bearings 9a and 9b shown in (a) are set as shown in (b), a shaft 8 is inserted to a target position in the inner ring rolling surface 15 of the pair of bearings 9a and 9b and, in this state, to simultaneously reduce an inter-bearing gap, a preload is applied by a preload weight 22 attached to the shaft 8, and the shaft 8 and the bearings 9a and 9b are joined together by adhesive 12.
