PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for a machine, that can minimize the lowering of the producing efficiency of a machine when any abnormality is caused in any control shaft in the control system of a machine equipped with a plurality of control shafts. SOLUTION: In this control system 1 of a cylindrical grinder 20, even when any abnormality is caused in either one of a grinder 22a or 22b during the grinding machining of a work W, it is possible to continue the grinding machining according to the combination of the normally operable control shafts without causing any obstacle in the operation. Thus, it is possible to minimize the lowering of the producing efficiency of the cylindrical grinder 20 though manufacture TAT is increased. Also, grinding wheels 33a and 33b and back wrests 71a and 71b of the grinders 22a and 22b provided with faulty control shaft are retreated into a safety area. Thus, it is possible to prevent the grinding wheel or back wrest whose use is invalidated from disturbing the operation of each control shaft whose use is validated.
