PURPOSE: A shelf-controlling link module apparatus and its control method are provided to easily extend a shelf and facilitate addition of a function by mutually connecting each shelf by a link module, preventing a specific shelf from being operated in occurrence of a failure and commonly connecting each data bus and an address bus. CONSTITUTION: A comparator(70) monitors whether an output voltage of a power supply unit is normal. A control buffer(71) controls transmission of an address signal according to a control signal of the comparator(70). A bi-directional control buffer(72) controls a bi-directional transmission of a data signal according to a control signal of the comparator(70). A decoder(73) controls an active state of each circuit board(35) according to a control signal of a main processing board(45). A layer diagnosing unit(74) diagnoses whether a corresponding shelf is normally operated and accordingly informs the main processing board(45). A buffer(75) transmits and receives a control signal of the main processing board(45) and the control signal between the plurality of circuit boards(35). A layer reset unit(76) resets the entire shelf when an error occurs in a corresponding shelf. An LMU(Link Module Unit)(60) includes an upward external terminal(80) and a downward external terminal(85) for transmitting and receiving a data to and from an adjacent shelf.
