PURPOSE: A method for writing data of an optical write and read apparatus is provided to first calculate write/verify ECC(Error Correction Code) block length most efficient per zone then perform a write/verify operation, and to make an optical pickup arrive at near write start position upon track jump after writing, so as to reduce a waiting time for verification after writing of the optical pickup. CONSTITUTION: Most efficient write/verify ECC block length is calculated per each zone and stored(301). If a command is inputted, whether the command is for a write command or a write/verify command is decided(302). If the command is for a write command, data are written during length from a position designated in the write command(303). If the command is for a write/verify command, a position of a zone to write the data is discriminated(304). The data are written during designated ECC block length in the discriminated zone(305). An optical pickup performs back jump as much as a stored track number and waits until a write start position is arrived by the rotation of an optical disk(306). And if the write start position is arrived, data are read from the position and verified(307).
