The brake booster for a motor vehicle (1) has a valve body (6) sliding in an envelope (2) with a piston (11,12) mounted on the body. The front part (56) of the piston carries a guide tube (56a) and the rear part carries a guide ring (56b) both sliding in the internal bore of the valve casing (41). The middle part of the valve shaft is also guided in the bore of the casing.
