The side groove for a motor vehicle adjustable seat has a fixed profile (21) forming a groove (28). A flap (30) is pivotally mounted along the edge of the groove. The flange can pivot between a raised position in which it seals the groove and a lowered position in which the groove is exposed. The flap is elastically biassed to the closed position.
