PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recording optical characteristics of the light generated by micro-photoirradiation light of a proximity field probe or the like on a recording medium and a medium. SOLUTION: The optical information recording method comprising irradiating the information recording medium which has photoisomerized areas and gives rise to a shape change by photoirradiation with the light having the specific optical characteristics and converting the optical characteristics to the shape changes of the material, thereby recording the optical characteristics and the medium.
