WAVELENGTH MULTIPLEX OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a wavelength multiplex optical transmission system which compensates the function of a WDM layer by a function of SONET/SDH and can confirm a wavelength connection. SOLUTION: Processing functions for multiple sections, repeating sections, etc., of SONET/SDH (11) are added to a wavelength converting device and a wavelength converting function to manage wavelength path sections as one layer of SONET/SDH (11). A wavelength ID for recognizing WDM wavelength is written to one of overheads of SONET/SDH (11) and on a reception side, connection normalcy is confirmed by checking the wavelength ID.
