PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the insulation performance of an ignition coil with the use of a filling material. SOLUTION: Primary and secondary windings 20 and 22 are accommodated concentrically together with a central core 18, an igniter 16 is placed on a projection 31 formed on a pedestal 15 located within a heat case part 12 which is provided on a coil case 11, and the cases 11 and 12 are filled with a filling material 24 to insulate and fix these parts therein. At this time, a projection 31 on the pedestal 15 causes the igniter 16 to be supported, being lifted from the pedestal 15 by a distance corresponding to the height of the projection 31. Thereby the spacing between the igniter 16 and pedestal 15 can be kept constant, and the filled condition of the filling material 24 between the igniter 16 and pedestal 15 can be made constant among resulting products. For this reason, the start point of a crack generated in the filling material 24 around the igniter 16 becomes nearly constant among products and the measure of suppressing enlargement of the crack can be facilitated from its design viewpoint, thus enabling stabilization of the insulation performance of an ignition coil 10. |
