PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery which prevents and decreases self-discharging inside the battery and can manufacture a lithium secondary battery having stable performance even if fibrous graphite or scaly graphite is used as a negative active material. SOLUTION: A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery is structured such that a negative electrode active material layer has fibrous graphite scaly graphite that have a strong edge characteristic as a negative active material on a negative electrode current collector, and moreover a graphite edge shield layer is has a non-edge carbon material such as carbon black thereon. It is therefore possible to manufacture a lithium secondary battery which solves a short circuit problem between positive and negative electrode active material layers while using the fibrous graphite or scaly graphite that has the strong the characteristic as the negative electrode active material. |
