PURPOSE: An LCD projector is provided to sense whether a projecting lens cover is put on a projecting lens when a lamp is on, and to control the amount of light passing through an LCD panel, thereby preventing the projecting lens cover from being transformed by the light. CONSTITUTION: A lamp(10) generates light. An LCD panel(20) selectively transmits the light. An image signal processor(30) processes an inputted image signal to be displayed on the LCD panel. An LCD driver(40) outputs a driving signal to the LCD panel according to a control signal. A projecting lens(50) projects the light passing through the LCD panel on a screen. A projecting lens cover(60) protects the projecting lens. A sensor(70) senses whether the projecting lens cover is put on the projecting lens. A microcomputer(80) outputs the control signal to the image signal processor and the LCD driver according to a sensing signal of the sensor.
