MULTIFUNCTIONAL SET TOP BOX AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A multifunctional set top box and the operating method thereof are provided to employ a built-in board transceiving multimedia-related signals and data with different external communication networks in response to a user's demand. CONSTITUTION: A board plate unit(10) mounts a plurality of boards(11,12,13) transceiving signals and data with an external communication network selected by a user. A signal input unit(20) inputs a signal that selects a board to use in the boards of the board plate unit. A microcomputer unit(30) selects a board of the board plate unit according to the selection signal inputted to the signal input unit and operates the selected board, to transceive signals with an external communication network requested by the user. Also the microcomputer unit processes the transceived signals to provide a service requested by the user. And a remote control unit(25) selects the board transceiving signals and data with the external communication network on the request of the user.
