<p>A modular conveyor system includes a first conveyor module having a selectively actuable device for transporting a product. The first conveyor module may include a drive roller connected to idler rollers, a sensor for sensing a product, and a programmable controller responsive to detection signals from the sensor for controlling operation of the actuable device according to a programmed logic scheme. The second conveyor module includes a plurality of selectively actuable active zones for transporting a product, each active zone comprising a drive roller connected to multiple idler rollers, sensors associated with each active zone, and a non-programmable controller responsive to detection signals from the sensors to control the movement of items in the zones. The conveyor modules may include different types of controller motherboards that communicate with other motherboards using different types of communications systems such as an ASI bus, a CAN bus, or other types.</p> |
