Flame-retardant vinyl esters which are prepared either by reacting an epoxy compound (A) with a cyclic phosphorus compound such as 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide at a P-H/epoxy ratio of 0.01 to 0.7 and then reacting the remaining epoxy groups with an ethylenically unsaturated monobasic acid (B) or by reacting the compound (A) with the acid (B) and then reacting the resulting product with the phosphorus compound at a P-H/epoxy ratio of 0.01 to 0.7, and have phosphorus contents ranging from 0.1 to 6 wt. % and double bond equivalents ranging from 200 to 1000 g/mol. The esters can give cured products which have high flame retardance, heat resistance, and humidity resistance and excellent mechanical properties and are useful for laminated sheets and resist inks, in spite of their being free from halogen.
|
