PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided, which improves a display quality by removing a luminance brightness of the first gate line. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of gate lines and data lines are cross-arranged in a liquid crystal panel(31), and a thin film transistor is comprised in a cross part. A plurality of gate drive ICs(33-1 - 33-5) apply a gate driving signal to the liquid crystal panel, and a plurality of source drive ICs(32-1 - 32-8) apply signal data to the liquid crystal panel. And a column PCB outputs every kind of control signals and a power. One of pins not used in each gate drive IC is connected to a dummy gate line formed out of the first gate line among the plurality of gate lines. Each gate drive IC uses 154 pins.
