PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing mode set in a trunk matching apparatus is provided to inspect the trunk matching apparatus without adding an external diagnosing block, by selecting and setting operation modes by turns in case that an alarm is generated due to erroneous set. CONSTITUTION: A processor controller calls a framer set routine of a trunk matching apparatus for determining whether an LOS(Loss Of Signal) alarm is generated(S11). If not generated, the result is reported to the upper block(S13). If generated, a counter value corresponding to an operation mode stored at a table(S15). An operation mode is set by referring to the operation mode value stored at the table(S17). It is determined whether an alarm is generated(S19). If generated, it is determined whether all set value within the table is referred(S21). If not, the counter value is increased(S23). If referred, it is informed to the upper block that no appropriate set value exists at the table(S25).
