PURPOSE: An apparatus for managing RF system state of a synchronous IMT-2000 base station and a method thereof are provided to manage the state of each board and report RF state management information by using HDLC protocol standard and communication with an RFCU, thereby easily maintaining and repairing the RF system. CONSTITUTION: A main control task(124) initializes a global variable and state management data structure of a base station transceiver system(100), and defines a timer ID for periodically checking the state of the base station transceiver system(100). A state management task(125) is generated when the main control task(124) receives a message reporting initialization completion from RFCU(Radio Frequency Control Unit)(111), manages the state of each board, and informs the RFCU(111) whether a response message to the transmitted message is received. A receipt check task(126) is driven when the state management task(125) transmits a state request message for checking whether the RFCU(111) receives the state management signal and completes operation.
