HIGHLY ACTIVE PHOTOCATALYST

A photocatalyst particle or powder which comprises a fine titanium oxide particle and, being caused to be present on the surface thereof, a salt of a polybasic acid containing at least one selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal, a transition metal and Al; and an organic polymer composition, a slurry, a coating agent and a surface having photocatalytic activity or hydrophilicity comprising the photocatalyst particle or powder; and an article having the above. The photocatalyst particle or powder can exhibit satisfactory photocatalytic activity with a practical light source emitting a small quantity of light such as a fluorescent lamp.
