PURPOSE: Provided are a red phosphor for low voltage, which is excellent in the remaining rate of brightness and contains an alkali earth metal and a titanium oxide, and a process for producing the red phosphor. CONSTITUTION: The red phosphor for low voltage contains a matrix comprising the alkali earth metal and the titanium oxide, a rare earth element, an element of the IIIB group in the periodic table, and Gd or Lu, wherein the alkali earth metal is selected from the group consisting of Mg, Sr, Ca, and Ba, the rare earth element is selected from the group consisting of Ce, Eu, Tb, Er, Tm, Pr, and Dy, and the element of the IIIB group is selected from the group consisting of Al, Ga, In, and Tl. And the red phosphor is produced by mixing the alkali earth metal salts, the titanium salts, the compound of the rare earth element, the compound of the IIIB group element, and the Gd or Lu compound and then calcining the mixture at 1100-1400deg.C for 1-6 hours. |
