<p>An improved side sill (82) having one or more double-reentrant bends is provided for motor-vehicle carrying railway cars, well cars and other types of railcars (10). The side sill (82) has an S-shaped cross-sectional portion which provides vertical and horizontal clearance from items located along the track side.
