Compounds of the formula I as defined and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are inhibitors of alpha4beta1 and/or alpha4beta7 integrins, and are useful in inhibiting cell adhesion and in the therapeutic or prophylactic treatment of transplant rejection and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
