Vehicle has an engine (10), a drive train (18,20), a generator (16) connected to the crankshaft, and a fuel injection system (14). The drive train is formed continuously non-positive and positively. The various systems (12,14,16,22) are adapted to each other and operated, so that freewheeling of the wheels is achieved by continuous opening of the intake and outlet valves, and switching the fuel injection system. Start-up of the car is possible using the generator, which is a crankshaft-starter-generator.
