Bleach composition comprises: (1) a peroxy bleaching agent (I) selected from hydrogen peroxide and peroxides or organic peracids capable of generating hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous medium; (2) a metal-containing anionic bleach activator (II); and (3) a cationic compound (III). An Independent claim is also included for a method for bleaching an object, comprising either: (a) bleaching the object with a mixture of (I)-(III); (b) pretreating the object with a composition comprising (III) and then bleaching the object with a composition comprising (I) and (II); or (c) pretreating the object with a composition comprising (II) and (III) and then bleaching the object with a composition comprising (I).
