<p>Apparatus and methods for loading, unloading and handling bales. Apparatus (10) loads bales (14), slides the bales from a loading mechanism (18) to a rearward position on a platform (16), and unloads the bales from the platform by means of a variety of control systems. Apparatus (10) includes an accumulating platform (16), a loading mechanism (18) to pick up and deposit bales on the accumulating platform (16), a bale sliding mechanism (26) and a push-off mechanism (40) to unload bales. The apparatus may be positioned in a variety of configurations and a chain tensioner mechanism (64, 66, 70, 72) is used to keep chains (50) taut. The apparatus (10) further comprises a control system (90) including a computer device (96) or controller (92, 94), sensors (104, 150-158, 162-168) and switches (108-114, 120-136). The sensors and switches selectively provide input to the computer device or may be used independently of the computer device to control the mechanisms of the apparatus.</p> |
