The invention relates to a coordinate measuring device comprising a probe head (7) whose stylus (4) is fastened on the probe head mechanism (34) through a housing opening (30) in the probe head housing, said probe head mechanism being mounted in the interior of the probe head housing. Said stylus (4) is exchangeably fastened on the probe head mechanism (34) via a stylus changing device (33). In order to protect the probe head mechanism and the stylus changing device (33) from splash water, a splash water housing (5) is provided that covers the housing opening (30) and the freely accessible parts of the stylus changing device (33) during measuring. The device is further provided with a mechanism that removes the splash guard housing (5) from the area of the housing opening (30) when the stylus is exchanged.
