The method involves measuring with radar beams during individual measurements, preferably carried out prior to a cooking process. A frequency-modulated radar can be used, especially a frequency-modulated continuous wave radar. The radar signal transition times and the number of radar echoes are evaluated. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for measuring position and shape of deposits in cooking oven.
