<p>The present invention relates to novel peptides and methods for enhancing wound healing, especially chronic wounds. The peptides of the present invention act as substrates for proteinases found in wounds, such as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and human neutrophil elastase. Tailoring of the peptide sequences proveds control of the healing process. The invention also relates to methods of treating wounds and inhibiting degradation of collagen, elastase, stromelysin, and other proteins dound in wounds.</p> |
