The invention relates to a method and device for simple, low-cost uniform assembly of at least two substrates (3, 4), especially to form an optical data carrier. According to the invention, the substrates are disposed at a distance from each other in between two opposite plates (34,38) which can move in relation to each other and at least one flexible membrane (16) connected to one of the plates is moved by creating a difference in pressure on opposite sides of the membrane (16).
