The invention relates to plate-like, multi-layer particles, the nucleus thereof containing aluminium oxide and/or a mixed phase of aluminium oxide and silicon dioxide, the intermediate layer thereof containing amorphous silicon dioxide and the covering containing iron. Said iron is present in an elementary form or in the form of at least one compound containing iron and selected from the group iron disilicide, maghemite, haematite and magnetite. The invention also relates to a production method, and the use of said particles for isolating and separating organic substances, or the use of the same in enzymatic fission reactions and in a magnetically stabilised fluidised bed.
