PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording/reproducing device capable of obtaining the satisfied tone by preventing a HiFi head from picking up adjacent tracks in the 5-fold long time recording mode without narrowing the track pitch of the HiFi head, and obtaining the satisfied picture quality free of the crosstalk from the adjacent tracks as to also the video, and also capable of attaining the particular reproduction without using a field memory as in the conventional manner. SOLUTION: This device is realized in such a manner that the recording is performed by a pair of heads utilizing a double azimuth method for standard and triple modes when the video with 5-fold long time recording mode is recorded, and the head having the narrower width than that of the recording track is arranged exclusively for the reproduction, and also four heads utilizing the conventional double azimuth method are used.
