PURPOSE: An impact absorbing apparatus for a bumper of a vehicle is provided to effectively absorb the impact applied to a front portion of the bumper of the vehicle by reversely moving a bumper cover when a vehicle accident occurs. CONSTITUTION: An impact absorbing apparatus for a bumper includes an impact detecting sensor(20) installed at an inner portion of a bumper cover(11) for detecting the impact when a front collision of a vehicle occurs. A sensor lever(22) is rotated when the impact detecting sensor(20) is reversely moved. A body(30) is rotatably attached to a front portion of a bumper beam(13). A nut portion(32) is formed at a center of the body(30). A stopper(40) is installed in the body(30). The stopper(40) forwardly moves when the sensor lever(22) rotates. The stopper(40) is connected to a rotating part(22a) of the sensor lever(22) through a connecting joint(24). A moving screw(50) having a bolt portion(52) coupled to the nut portion(32) is coupled to an inner side of the bumper cover(11).
