PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film which can impart water repellency to the surface of an adherend by heating a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape having a water-repellent resin layer to easily and strongly thermally transfer and bond the water-repellent resin layer to the surface of the adherend, its manufacturing method, and its transferring method. SOLUTION: The thermally transferable release film is composed of a substrate film, a water-repellent resin layer formed on one side of the substrate film, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on the other side of the substrate film, and the method for thermally transferring a water-repellent resin layer to the surface of an adherend comprises subjecting the release film to contact bonding and heating so as for the water-repellent resin layer to be opposed to the surface of the adherend to be endowed with water repellency.
