PURPOSE: A device and a method for delaying power-off of a car television is provided to delay the off of driving power applied to the car television when turning off driving power of a car, so as to turn off the driving power after automatically inserting a display unit projected to an external inside a main frame. CONSTITUTION: In a car television having a display unit, a main frame and a carrier unit, a sense switch unit(40) arranged inside the main frame checks normal projected and inserted states of the display unit. A front and rear driving unit(60) drives the carrier unit to insert the display unit in the main frame to be projected. A rotation driving unit(50) drives the carrier unit to tilt the display unit projected from the main from at a preset angle. A battery power controller(20) controls the on/off of battery power applied to the car television. A driving power sensing unit(30) senses whether appropriate driving power is applied to the car television. A microcomputer(10) checks the sense switch unit if the input of driving power is not sensed in the driving power sensing unit, and controls the rotation driving unit and the front and rear driving unit when the display unit is projected, to horizontally transport the tilted display unit and insert the display unit inside the main frame. Then the microcomputer controls the battery power controller to cut off battery power.
