<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent which is used in an industrial method for cleaning and separating gas efficiently. SOLUTION: An improved method for preparing an adsorbent which is molded in various forms such as beads used in a gas separation process is disclosed. A nanometer-porous silicon compound in the form of crystal powder is stabilized by heat pretreatment before being contacted with an inorganic binder. The obtained molded adsorbent, when the pH value of the aqueous suspension of the inorganic binder is greater than 10, maintains its crystal structure. The adsorbent beads obtained from the process are especially suitable for separating gaseous low molecular weight hydrocarbons such as paraffin, olefin, and a mixture of them from carbon dioxide in wet air.</p> |
