PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber processing aid which is useful in improving workability particularly of a carbon black-compounded rubber composition and does not lower intensity or the like of a vulcanized rubber, and a rubber composition. SOLUTION: The rubber processing aid contains a silane coupling agent and at least one compound of (1) an amine salt of a higher fatty acid, (2) an amine of a derivative of higher fatty acid, (3) a metal salt of a higher fatty acid, and (4) a metal salt of a derivative of higher fatty acid. It is preferable that the higher fatty acid and its derivative are linolic acid, 12-hydroxystearic acid, or the like, obtained by hydrolyzing castor oil, the amine used for forming the amine salt is an ethanolamine, and the metal salt is an alkali metal salt. The processing aid or its component is also useful in the case of fine average particle diameter of the carbon black (30 nm or less).
