PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat tube of heat exchanger, in which the manufacturing cost is reduced by eliminating the directionality in the fixing work of the flat tube thereby enhancing the workability of fixing work, and pressure resistance can be enhanced by enhancing the strength at bends. SOLUTION: In the flat tube (1) of a heat exchanger, where a sheet of plate (2) is folded in the center and the opposite end parts of the plate are aligned, such that the inner openings have elliptical transverse sections, a recess (3) swelling opposite to the bending direction, is formed previously in the center of the plate. The plate is folded at the recess, and the opposite end parts thereof are aligned and then the folded recess is collapsed, thus forming an outline of the transverse section to have lateral symmetry.
