PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for molten metal which is used for dissolution or casting equipment for producing a nonferrous metallic products of an aluminum alloy, a zinc alloy, a magnesium alloy or the like, has better erosion resistance to the molten metal of those alloys than the conventional gray cast iron material and can be inexpensively produced. SOLUTION: The member for the molten nonferrous metal is formed by using a white pig iron-based material containing, as chemical components, by weight, 2.4 to 3.8% C, 0.2 to 2.6% Si, 0.1 to 2.0% Mn, 0.05 to 0.5% P and 0.005 to 0.2% S, and the balance Fe with impurity elements, and having a matrix metallic structure and carbides. The white pig iron-based material further contains, as chemical components, one or more metals selected from 0.1 to 4.0% Ni, 0.1 to 2.5% Cr, 0.1 to 2.0% Mo and 0.1 to 2.0 V.
