PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means of suppressing the evaporation loss of zinc in the process of sintering in manufacturing brass sintered parts by compacting and sintering brass powder. SOLUTION: Foil-like copper powder (hereinafter referred to as 'copper foil powder') is mixed with brass powder and these are mixed thoroughly to coat the brass powder with the copper foil. In this way, the evaporation of the zinc contained in the brass powder can be suppressed by the copper foil covering the surface; even if evaporation is brought about, the evaporated zinc is alloyed with the copper foil powder into brass. As a result, the amount of evaporation loss can be reduced. If tin or lithium compounds are added to the brass powder treated as above, the effect can be further increased.
