PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit and a method for driving a head whereby a data amount of a head driving waveform and a processing time can be suppressed to be low, and more accurate control is enabled without increasing the data amount and the processing time in the head driving unit of an ink jet recorder or the like. SOLUTION: An address count data 11 of a head driving operation is compared with a plurality of time data 12 of current change points of the head driving waveform. When the address count data 11 becomes equal to one of the plurality of time data 12, a current data 14 of the current change point indicated by the time data 12 is outputted.
