PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal mixture which displays color information at a fast response time at a short rise time and at a short decay time, and to provide a liquid crystal cell for a liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal mixture comprises a liquid crystal material, a dye with a dipole, such as morpip of formula 2, and is used for liquid crystal cells for color liquid crystal displays. Further, a liquid crystal mixture in which a liquid crystal material is 4'-n-pentyl-4-cyanobiphenyl (5CB) of formula 1.
