METHOD FOR SURFACE TREATMENT OF TITANIUM OXIDE FOR ULTRAVIOLET SCREENING AGENT

PURPOSE: A method of treating the surface of titanium oxide as ultrafine particulate to maximize the ultraviolet screening effect of ultraviolet screening cosmetics is provided which can increase the ultraviolet screening effect while maintaining the activity of a reduced photocatalyst. CONSTITUTION: Silica corresponding to 5.0 to 37.0% by weight of ultrafine particulate titanium oxide and iron oxide of corresponding to 0.2 to 2.0% by weight of ultrafine particulate titanium oxide are coated on ultrafine particulate titanium oxide and calcined at 550 to 650deg.C to produce titanium oxide coated with silica and iron oxide. The cosmetic composition contains the titanium oxide coated with silica and iron oxide as an effective component.
