PURPOSE: A method for welding a fuel tank is provided to improve quality of products and increase productivity by bonding a portion of the fuel tank requiring air-tightness by arc welding. CONSTITUTION: In a welding method of a fuel tank connecting a fuel tank panel to a filler pipe, the method for welding a fuel tank comprises the steps of bending a bonding portion where the fuel tank panel(22) meets the filler pipe(20) to an angle of approximately 45 degrees; supplying current between a base metal and a filler through a power supply wire(28) by putting an end part(26a) of a filler wire(26) inserted into a torch pipe(24) on the bonding portion; and simultaneously fusion welding the filler wire to the bonding portion using arc heat generated by current supplied between the base metal and the filler wire(26), and connecting the fuel tank panel(22) to the filler wire(26), wherein crater treatment and 5 degree angle of overlap treatment are additionally performed on the bonding portion to prevent welding defects.
