<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a non-saponified product from tall oil pitch in high yield with simple equipment and operation, and to provide a method for producing sterols in high yield from the thus recovered non- saponified product. SOLUTION: This method for recovering a non-saponified product from tall oil pitch comprises the steps of putting the tall oil pitch to alkaline hydrolysis in a polyhydric alcohol solution within a specific temperature range and extracting and recovering the non-saponified product by the use of a hydrocarbon-based solvent. The other objective sterols are isolated from thus recovered non-saponified product.</p> |
