PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct correct superheat control by setting optimally the lowest pulse of an expansion valve in superheat control of an air conditioner. SOLUTION: In the superheat control of an air conditioner, an initial pulse of an expansion valve is transmitted, the lowest pulse Pmin is set to have a value smaller than the initial pulse (ST1, ST2). A difference temperature ((SH) amount) between heat exchange temperature Tc of an evaporator and a suction temperature Ts is detected at each prescribed time. An additional pulse for the expansion valve is transmitted so as to match the detection (SH) amount to an aimed value, in valve travel regulation of the expansion valve (ST3-ST6). When an additional pulse is one in the closing direction, inlet temperature Ti of an indoor heat exchanger is detected at each prescribed time; and when a differenceΔTi of the temperature Ti is positive (when the temperature Ti has elevated), a value Ph obtained by adding 1 to the present pulse of the expansion valve is taken as the lowest pulse Pmin (ST7 to ST17). In the subsequent operations, the lowest pulse is not transmitted as a pulse in the valve- closing direction.
