N-SUBSTITUTED PIPERIDINONE AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an N-substituted piperidinone in high yield by using raw materials which are industrially available at a low cost. SOLUTION:β-Methyl-δ-valerolactone is reacted with an amine compound represented by the formula: R-NH2 (R is a 2-8C alkyl group which may be substituted with hydroxy group or alkoxy group) to get an N-substituted piperidinone represented by formula (1) (R is as defined above).
