PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for scattering spacers of a liquid crystal display device without increasing the cost. SOLUTION: The spacers 3 are scattered on the surface of a substrate 1 and only a spacer 3 positioned in a prescribed place is heated. The resin preformed on the surface of the spacer 3 is softened or melted to fix the spacer onto the surface of the substrate 1 and then spacers 3 which are not fixed to the substrate are removed.
