PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling stroke of compressor are provided to stably drive the compressor by executing auto detection control and stroke current control simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: A device comprises a detective part detecting stroke or velocity and current according to reciprocation in a compressor; an operating part(3) comparing and calculating stroke or velocity and phase difference of current output by the detective part to calculate current value; a control part(4) executing auto detection(AD) control by measuring fluctuation of stroke or velocity and stroke current(AC) control by measuring stroke or velocity and phase difference of current based on current value calculated in the operating part; and an executing part(6) executing control of stroke or velocity of the compressor by receiving output of the control part and outputting control signal for operation of the compressor.
