PURPOSE: A method for controlling an expansion mode for a key-phone system is provided to connect plural key phone system with each other and control highway signals of the key-phone system thorough a control unit of the key phone charging a master function. CONSTITUTION: Key phone systems progress from an initial state(S1) to a master mode setting process(S2), so that a master and slaver modes are set. Thereafter, it is discriminated whether a highway signal is inputted to the key-phone of the master or slave mode(S3). If a highway signal is not inputted, a general control signal process is performed(S4). If a highway signal is inputted, the process is progressed into a master mode control process(S5). Thereafter, the control unit of the master mode allocates a channel of a highway signal inputted from the control unit of the slave mode and then performs a switching function.
